Trouble saying no or asking for what you want?
Do you struggle to accept yourself for who you are, warts and all?
Do you find yourself making lots of comparisons between yourself and others, often feeling like they come out on top?
Do you struggle to put time aside to engage in things that make you truly happy?
Do you have trouble generating ideas on how you can better look after yourself and practice kindness towards yourself?
Then get on board with my 2017 #bemyownbestie challenge and start taking small steps towards improving your well-being by increasing your self-care, self-love and self-acceptance .
What is the Be My Own Bestie Instagram Campaign?
I’ve started the #bemyownbestie campaign to inspire both myself and others to engage in the daily practice of self-care, as well as working toward increasing a sense of self-love, self-acceptance and self-worth.
The campaign involves numerous things. First, I will be posting on my Instagram account the ways that I am practicing self-care, self-acceptance and self-love on a daily basis, no matter how small or large the gesture.
Once a week I will also be highlighting other Instagram profiles who offer inspiration for self-care and self-acceptance as well.
Thirdly, I also encourage anyone who wishes to join me to post their ideas for the practice of self-care, self-love and self-acceptance on Instagram. I want to see how you all put yourself first. In doing this, I encourage you to both use the hashtag #bemyownbestie and also tag @misspsychlife. This will enable me to collect and share all of your ideas so that, by the end of 2017 we will hopefully have a fantastic collection of posts on how to be more self-loving and self-accepting. You don’t have to post every day like I will be (unless you really want to) but I would still love to see your ideas from time to time.
For those of you with private accounts, I won’t be able to see your posts so please pm me your ideas so I can include them. This also goes for those of you without Instagram but who might still wish to take part in the challenge. If this is the case, email me your ideas at email@example.com or on facebook (MissPsychLife).
Why this campaign?
In my work as a Clinical Psychologist, every day I talk to people who struggle to be kind and compassionate towards themselves, to look after themselves, and to accept themselves for who they are. This ultimately reduces their sense of self-worth and also limits their opportunity for and commitment to personal growth.
But one does not need to be a psychology patient to have these struggles…… we all do from time to time, me included. So……. I’ve decided to personally make the commitment to increasing my self-acceptance and self-care in the hope that it will improve my overall sense of well-being and that it might just inspire one or two of you along the way to do the same.
Why get on board?
I’ve started this campaign with the aim of it being a personal journey for myself but I think that most of us can benefit from increasing our practice of self-care.
By taking part in the campaign, you will be part of a small community dedicated to personal well-being and the practice of self-care and self-love. You will share and receive ideas for looking after yourself and being kind to yourself, and you will also receive suggestions for other businesses/Instagram pages who offer inspiration for self-care, self-love and self-acceptance.
So if you are interested, follow me on Instagram @misspsychlife and start being kinder to yourself today 😘 we can do this 💪🏻
